BIOGRAPHY
ALDORA ITUNU has swiftly risen to be one of the top props in the country.
The versatile prop debuted for the Black Ferns in the 2015 Super Series in Canada and it didn’t take her long until she was the team’s starting tighthead prop.
In 2017 she started in six of her seven appearances for the Black Ferns, including the Women’s Rugby World Cup final against England. One of her career highlights came in the pool match against Canada, where she crossed for a hat-trick. It was a stark example of Itunu’s power, skill and mobility.
In 2018 she added two more tries to her tally against Australia during the Laurie O’Reilly Memorial Trophy.
Her first-class career began in 2012, when, out of the Ponsonby club, she first played for the Auckland Storm. At the start of the 2017 Farah Palmer Cup season Itunu has amassed 31 games for the Storm and has scored 13 tries.
Her ability to play on either side of the scrum is an asset in any squad situation. It is at loosehead that Itunu has spent most of her time with the Storm since returning from the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup.
Itunu broadened her rugby horizons earlier in her career with club stints in England and Italy.
