Mounga Taufateau

My name is Mounga Taufateau from Auckland, New Zealand currently playing rugby in Germany for Sportclub Neuenheim Rugby, in Heidelberg. I have been playing rugby all my life back in New Zealand and I have built alot of experience during this time with different teams. My key attribute is that I bring hard work on and off the field. I really enjoy the physical side of rugby but also enjoy the small tactical work. Best memory of rugby has been representing my country Tonga Under-20’s and since than I always wanted to see what I could do with rugby and take it to the next level. I also have been lucky to gain huge experience while playing alongside and against some of the best players in New Zealand.

In the recent years I have moved to South Germany where I have been very successful dominating in physicality and tactical play. Carrying my experience from New Zealand has helped me win many awards and help my team reach the Bundesliga 2 finals, where we fell short losing to the champions. However I had a great season becoming the top try scorer and the player of the season. Following season we had an amazing unbeaten run, winning all our games and making the biggest result in the clubs history.
Although due to unfortunate pandemic issues the season was voided, which became frustrated as we were the favourites to win the league.
I have recieved an offer to join a team in Bundesliga and I did not hesitate to push my rugby into a higher level. I have settled well, earning my starting position in the team quickly. In the current Covid situation I am forced to train individualy, so I stay motivated and regularly do fitness blocks and power training routines including flexibility training. I also include individual rugby skills training 3 times per week using some equipment at home and a rugby ball.

I feel that I am able to perform at even higher level, therefore I offer my video highlights, and a club list & honours. I would be very happy to enter a trial and earn a position in your team.
